Using the D'Angelo Law Library

The D'Angelo Law Library is in the heart of the Law School, with faculty offices surrounding our open stacks and student services located above our Circulation Desk. This unique design means that fostering an environment conducive to study and research requires the cooperation of all library users. To that end, all individuals using the library should be mindful of their surroundings by keeping conversations in quiet tones and refraining from engaging in behavior that creates a disturbance.

Quiet Study Space

The D'Angelo Law Library has designated quiet spaces on the fourth and fifth floors east of the elevators. Individuals using these areas should avoid conversations and other activities that disrupt others' quiet use of the space. However, individuals using other parts of the library, particularly floors 2 and 3, should expect some noise.

Library users are also welcome to ask for earplugs at the Circulation Desk. If you have concerns or notice that library users are engaging in disruptive behavior, please contact us either through Ask a Law Librarian (email or chat) or talk to a library staff member at the Circulation Desk.

Can University of Chicago Law School Students use other Chicago Law Libraries?

Other Chicago area law schools may currently restrict access to their libraries. To borrow books from any of the libraries of other Chicago area law schools, consult a reference librarian to request items through Interlibrary Loan.

Please contact Ariel Scotese, Associate Director for User Services, at aascotese@uchicago.edu, or Sheri Lewis, Director of the Law Library, at shl@uchicago.edu, with questions regarding access to law school libraries at other universities.
