About Eckhart Library

Eckhart Library resides on the second floor of Eckhart Hall, home of the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Statistics.  The Department of Computer Science occupies the adjacent Ryerson Hall.  The Eckhart Library collection of approximately 55,000 volumes contains research level monographs, scholarly journals, and selected textbooks in computer science, mathematics, and statistics.

Eckhart Hall was erected in 1930 with funds donated in 1927 by Bernard A. Eckhart, a Chicago businessman. Eckhart Hall was built to house the Mathematics Department, and it has also been used for other programs related to the physical sciences, including some work for the Manhattan Project during World War II.
