Library funds new open access publishing options with Association of Computing Machinery, the Biochemical Society, and the Company of Biologists

The Department of Computer Science and University of Chicago Library have partnered to provide free open access publishing in Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) journals, magazines, and conference proceedings for all UChicago corresponding authors. This agreement will increase the visibility of UChicago research in computer science and support ACM on their mission to become a fully open access publisher by 2026. More information regarding this agreement, including eligibility requirements, can be found on our Open Access Guide.

The Library’s open access agreement with the Biochemical Society, negotiated through the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA), provides Library-funded open access publishing in all journals published by the Biochemical Society and provides access to all of the Society’s journals.

The Company of Biologists agreement allows all UChicago corresponding authors to publish an unlimited number of articles in all journals published by the Company of Biologists.

To date, the Library has entered into agreements with 16 journal publishers allowing all UChicago faculty, students, and staff to publish open access without paying Article Processing Charges (APCs). The Library is also helping to support several OA ebook initiatives and infrastructure to support the availability and discovery of open content.
